EDITORIAL: Public Archaeology in debate Jaime Almansa Sánchez Editor Piece by piece this journal is growing. That is why, before saying anything else, we need to thank every follower and collaborator for being there for us. Volume 2 comes full of new ideas, projects and perspectives on Public Archaeology. During the past few months I have struggled with the crisis and Spanish archaeology. Both have been tough to deal with and none has been resolved yet. It is a fact that current management models are in a crisis, and we need -in some countries more than others- to rethink and redefine our role as professionals and adapt to this changing world. It does not matter if we work in the public or the private sector; archaeology has become a commodity whether we like it or not, and its value is not what we usually expect. PUBLIC ARCHAEOLOGY IN MAJOR DEVELOPMENT WORKS This is the title for the first special volume of AP Journal. We are willing to publish it during 2012 and now we want to open a Call for Papers, both original articles and reviews. What are we looking for? Since the beginning of CRM and Commercial Archaeology there have been thousands of interventions worldwide. Some of them have taken place within the frame of major development works (e.g. pipes, roads, tunnels, airports, urban developments, etc.). Sometimes, they have had a special impact in the area of Public Archaeology both in the management and diffusion. In this volume, we are willing to compile different experiences from around the world, approaching PA-related topics such as project management, policy analysis, outreach and community engagement, exhibitions and other means of diffusion, press coverage, etc. If you want to participate, please contact us at: jasarqueologia@gmail.com
